India declare after Pujara?s double-hundred ? Cricket News Roundup ? Part 2 ? November 16, 2012

Cheteshwar Pujara scored an unbeaten 206 as India finally declared on 521 for 8 to give themselves 18 overs to bowl at England on the second day of the ongoing first Test at Ahmedabad.

Resuming from 323 for 4, the home side again dominated the first session which saw Pujara and Yuvraj Singh reaching their respective century and half-century.

The latter fell early in the second session before Graeme Swann clean bowled Mahendra Singh Dhoni to claim his fifth wicket of the innings. Ravichandran Ashwin (23) and Zaheer Khan (7) provided support to Pujara as the hosts finally decided to declare.

Bangladesh provided a timely reminder of their Test credentials after posting 556 in the first innings of the ongoing Test against West Indies; their highest ever score in the longer version.

After covering considerable ground to the Windies? first innings score of 527 on day 3, the hosts added 101 more to leap frog their previous best Test score of 488.? Nasir Hossain led the assault with a quick-fire 96.

The tourists, in their second innings, again lost Chris Gayle early but Kieran Powell and Darren Bravo steadied the ship with a 191-run stand. The former went onto amass his second century of the match, while the latter posted 76 as Windies reached 218 for 4.

Australia?s new batting coach, Stuart Law, believes that Shane Watson still remains among the best batsmen in the country and has backed him to take his place in the national team when he recovers from injury.

Watto was sidelined from the opening encounter against South Africa after he picked up a calf strain during a domestic game. His failure to get an extended Test run under his belt has forced the selectors to declare that the all-rounder will only be picked if he proves his fitness as a bowler.

Law however, feels that Watson is more than handy with just the bat in his hand. "Probably the recent record may not suggest that but that doesn't mean he isn't one of the best batsmen in Australia. For me, of course he is. He is a dangerous, destructive brute of a batter, so he's one of the guys you want fully fit and playing in the team.?
